Description
Each Calcivita Forte capsule contains: Calcium carbonate 1500 mg, vitamin D3 200 IU.
Calcivita Forte provides elemental calcium 600 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: The major function of calcium is to build and maintain bones and teeth. It is essential for healthy blood and helps regulate the heartbeat and assists in the process of blood clotting. It plays a part in muscle contraction and nerve transmission. It also activates several enzymes and regulates the passage of nutrients in and out of the cell walls.
The most important role of vitamin D is maintenance of calcium blood levels. Therefore, when choosing calcium supplements, those that also contain the RDA of vitamin D are preferred.
Indications/Uses
Prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in patients with inadequate calcium intake especially for women in premenopausal age.
Calcivita Forte is also useful in gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, premenstrual syndrome and rickets. It is also effective in reducing the risk of colorectal cancer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1-2 caps daily or as directed by the physician.
Contraindications
Calcium supplement should not be used in the following medical problems: Hypercalcaemia, renal calculi and especially in prostate cancer patients.
Drug Interactions
Calcium absorption may be interfered when taken together with phytic acid, oxalic acid and excess of fatty acids in the small intestine.

Keep in a cool and dry place. Do not refrigerate.
